    This place is excellent!
Food was superb and very filling!
My friends and I came with a pretty big party and I know that we should have made a reservation but they were so flexible, were prepared with a variety and of seating options. The waiters and servers are so responsive, excellent customer service.

I definitely can't wait to come back (with a table for two this time haha).

As a lifelong Chinatown NY (and San Francisco) explorer, and someone who's spent time in Shanghai, I will tel you that Ala Shanghai is the real deal!  Amazing food, authentic dishes and located No Where you would expect!
What a wonderful discovery and now a regular stop - anytime I'm passing through the Albany area.
    With the trip!

    My go to restaurant.

I could go into lengthy detail, but direct you to the five star reviews for a look at what people say about their experience at Alla Shanghi.  I second the July review by Boris R.

I'm dinning there tomorrow eve with my wife ,brother  (first time) and his wife.

Peking duck and soup dumplings for me , the others can follow my advice. No

Years later I had the pleasure of being able to come back to this place after graduating from RPI and moving to Marlboro, Massachusetts.  No matter where I looked there was nothing that compares to the amazing food and my favorite Soup Dumplings.  Short of driving to NYC or Boston I could find no comparison to this Shanghai restaurant located in upstate New York.  Came on a Monday night during a week trip visiting the area and it was as busy as I remembered but my group of four lucked out with a table that was finishing up.  A plus to this place is the larger parking lot!  Everything was clean and beautiful as I remembered. Service and food was quick and it was great seeing the owner again keeping his restaurant running like a well oiled machine!  Now back home I'm missing this place and wish it was closer, but hopefully I'll be back to the deliciousness!

Ordered the seafood siew mai, har gow, scallion pancakes, and two orders of xiao long bao. Overall, the food was quite good, especially given that it's in the middle of basically nowhere. We came here looking to eat dim sum, however, but the dim sum menu is really limited.

Xiao long baos were quite good and meaty with a thin skin, juicy, but the dipping sauce was lacking ginger. Har gow had pretty fresh shrimp inside, didn't taste reheated, skin was a little thick but wasn't hard or chewy. Siew mai was seafood, so the taste is different from normal siew mai, but it had a good texture and taste. Scallion pancake was a little bit of a letdown. Quite tasteless even though it was fried well, the dipping sauce (spicy soy?) was a redeeming factor though.

Would come back to try their normal menu.

Would: Xiao long bao, siew mai
    Meh: har gow
    Would not: scallion pancake
